Storage and Discharge of Powders and Bulk Materials

wolfson centre anniversary ogo

Overview:
Hoppers, silos, bins and bunkers are widely used in industry for storing bulk solids materials. However, these facilities can experience operational problems – often because facilities have been designed without knowledge of the flow characteristics of the material to be stored. This intensive course has been specifically designed to help solve problems like these. It includes an optional one day practical session in the onsite pilot plant

Course fee: £915 per delegate 2 days / £1400 per delegate 3 days;

Venue: Chatham, Kent
Contact: Caroline Chapman Wolfson-enquiries@gre.ac.uk , +44 20 8331 8646

Programme –

Day 1

Project Risk / Characterisation of Powders and Bulk Materials/
Basic flow properties and equipment types / Feeders and feeding/ Hopper discharge aids /

Day 2

Determination of vessel geometry/ Segregation / Caking in vessels / Effects of changes in material properties/ Worked examples / Predicting discharge rates

Each day provides the opportunity to discuss operational issues with the presenters and other delegates.
