SEF: Reliable and Affordable Monitoring for Smaller Machinery

Dependable Yet Affordable Monitoring For Less Critical Machinery

In manufacturing and industry, machine monitoring is critical to guarantee reliable operation and eliminate costly downtime. Not all machinery warrants the significant investment of a high-integrity stand-alone Machine Monitoring System, MMS or Machine Protection System, MPS. However, there remains a requirement to continuously monitor critical rotating machinery to guarantee operational efficiency and avert unexpected failure.

SENSONICS: An Economical Solution for Small Rotating Machinery

Recognising the growing need for constant monitoring and protection of smaller rotating machinery, SENSONICS has developed the PZDC Accelerometer. This sophisticated sensor is intended for application on machinery such as fans, blowers, centrifuges, pumps, motors, and conveyors and provides a cost-effective and efficient solution compared to more complicated systems.

Available in several configurations, these 2-wire (+screen) loop-powered 4-20mA sensors have established themselves as a tried and affordable solution for machine monitoring.

Ease of Integration to Industrial Control Systems

Perhaps the greatest strength of the PZDC Accelerometer-available either as a (g) acceleration or velocity (mm/s) vibration transmitter-is its ability to interface directly with existing industrial control systems, such as:

  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • SCADA systems

All these make for real-time monitoring and analysis, thus allowing operators to identify abnormalities in the early stage to prevent machinery failure.

Options for Hazardous and Extreme Environments

The PZDC Accelerometer is also available in various configurations to suit different industrial environments including:

  • Intrinsically Safe Versions – For hazardous areas with potentially explosive atmospheres, including hydrogen, conductive and non-conductive dusts, and methane in mines.
  • Submersible Versions – With polyurethane cables and IP68 (10-bar) sealing for operation in wet or submerged conditions.
  • Sub-Sea Applications – Constructed from corrosion-resistant materials with over-moulded cable entries for high-pressure applications.

Customisable Connectivity for Flexible Installation

The PZDC Accelerometer is also available with top or side exit integrated cables, integral connectors with separate cable assemblies and options for standard, armoured, or LSZH, in order to serve many industrial applications. That, in return, makes it very easy to integrate the PZDC Accelerometer into both new and existing monitoring systems.
