Improve Your Mixing Efficiency with 30-Second Guides from Silverson Machines
– Silverson Machines Increases Its Popular YouTube Series of Short Demos
Silverson Machines has increased its series of 30-second mixing guides that are available within the ‘Shorts' section of the Silverson YouTube channel.
The concise, informative videos present solutions to everyday mixing challenges across the food, cosmetic, and chemical industries, among others, while demonstrating how Silverson's high shear mixers achieve quality results.
One of the highest viewed videos from this series so far, ‘How to Mix Xanthan Gum' 30 second tutorial, has gained over 85,000 views to date. Many food formulations rely on gums and thickening agents such as xanthan gum, pectin and CMC, also featured within the 30-second series to achieve an optimum texture and stability.
These types of ingredients add to the “mouthfeel” and texture of products but invariably create processing challenges, often associated with dispersion and hydration.
A key issue in the processing of xanthan gum is that upon the addition of the gum to liquid, agglomerates form. These lumps are impossible for the agitator to fully break down, preventing full yield realisation and typically resulting in a poor-quality product with batch-to-batch variation.
Traditional agitators merely disturb the surface, which lengthens hydration times and hence lengthens the mixing time. In practice, this often results in over-addition of the gum in an attempt to compensate, thereby unnecessarily increasing the raw material costs.
The real difference is demonstrated by this succeeding 30-second mix demo that truly distinguishes the conventional mixers from the high shear mixers.
Silverson high-shear mixers make use of an advanced rotor/stator design that creates exceptionally high shear rates, developing a tremendous suction draw into the high shear zone, drawing material in continuously.
Fast action ensures uniform dispersion, eliminates agglomerates, and maximizes particle-liquid contact for a smooth, even consistency without any variations.
