Mixing and Dispersing Technology Expert ystral at the European Coatings Show: Innovative Process Engineering Solutions for Increased Energy and Resource Efficiency
Efficient energy and resource usage in the production of lacquers, paints, and coatings is the subject of ystral's ECS 2025 lecture. The European Coatings Show and Conference is held in Nuremberg, Germany, from 25 to 27 March. On ECS, dispersion and mixing technology expert ystral is illustrating the excellent efficiency benefits that are achievable in the manufacturing of lacquers, paints, and coatings using innovative process technology.
“We would like to invite producers in these sectors to enter into discussions on how they could substantially lower the energy and resource demands of their processes – and how we could support them with our technologies, our broad industry know-how, and our experience gained over many years,” says Dr Hans-Joachim Jacob, ystral Senior Expert Process and Applications.
At Hall 4 (Stand 4-553), two innovations are being showcased by the company: the YSTRAL Conti-TDS powder wetting and dispersing mill and the YSTRAL Jetstream Mixer. The innovations make it possible to reduce energy consumption and processing time in the production of lacquers and paints by up to 90% compared to the agitators and dissolvers that are traditionally used.
30,000 Times Higher Volume-Specific Power with the YSTRAL Conti-TDS
The YSTRAL Conti-TDS employs a vacuum and extremely high shear forces in an extremely small volume. The particles are split up by the vacuum and subsequently dispersed at a 1,000 times greater shear rate, with 30,000 times greater volume-specific power than conventional technologies. “The outcome is significantly shorter process times, less energy consumption and temperature rise, highest quality, and enormous cost savings in costs, raw materials, and space requirements,” Jacob elucidates.
100% Homogeneity with the YSTRAL Jetstream Mixer
YSTRAL Jetstream Mixers use a continuous vertical mixing principle, combining a turbulent micro-mixing zone in their mixing head with practically turbulence-free vertical macro-mixing of the entire vessel contents. Unlike conventional agitators, the product is completely homogeneously mixed at the end of the process – without unmixed areas or sediment – and independent of batch size, with reproducible results.
