Cablevey debuts retrofit solutions to reduce product loss and increase productivity
Cablevey Conveyors, the global leader in tubular drag conveying technology, recently unveiled two new retrofit technologies – CleanDrop™ and CleanTray™ – that will reduce product loss and increase productivity.
The new products are Cablevey's most important developments since joining the Akona Process Solutions group of consolidated material handling companies, including Cablevey, Kason, Marion and Spiroflow.
The latest innovations illustrate Cablevey's continuing focus on customer-driven innovation, particularly in markets such as coffee, nutraceuticals and fine powders. In solving specific bottlenecks within the process of conveying, the company is offering reasonable engineering-based solutions that conserve waste, guard margins and improve overall system performance.
CleanDrop: minimising carryover for cleaner, more productive processing
CleanDrop has been engineered to solve the perpetual issue of carryover – product trapped on conveyor discs and passing beyond the intended point of discharge.
This causes lost product and lowered hygiene standards. CleanDrop remedies this by gently agitating the conveyor discs inside a carefully engineered discharge tube, dislodging any material that is stuck.
Initially developed for the coffee market, CleanDrop has shown outstanding performance in laboratory tests. Laboratory tests on ground coffee showed tenfold carryover reduction with significantly improved yield and system cleanliness.
The CleanDrop system is fully retrofittable through a tube replacement and simple installation – facilitating instant upgrade without the cost of a system overhaul.
CleanTray: recovering residual product from conveyor turnaround sections
The second innovation, CleanTray, is aimed at product loss in the conveyor turnaround section – a section traditionally prone to material escape.
CleanTray captures this excess product and directs it back into the path of flow. Its three-piece configuration allows it to move in tandem with the system's carriage while maintaining the product in a consistent alignment.
Like CleanDrop, CleanTray is retrofit-capable, providing an economical way to bring older systems up to date. It will be engineered to be as efficient as possible with every product remaining in the system and being carried to its end point.
“These are smart, low-cost upgrades that deliver real value,” said John Adair, Akona’s new product development engineering manager. “By focusing on problem points in the conveying process, such as carryover and turnaround loss, we’ve engineered solutions that help our customers reduce waste, improve yield and make the most of every batch. And because they’re retrofittable, there’s no need to invest in a new system to see the benefits.”
Already installed in several high-volume coffee manufacturing facilities, CleanDrop and CleanTray are now available for worldwide order. Their launch emphasises Akona's larger mission of providing fully integrated, high-performance material handling systems backed by industry-specific expertise and support.
