Superdurable Interpon powder coatings from AkzoNobel are helping Meshtec, a Thailand based manufacturer of high security external screens for doors and windows, provide customers with long lasting performance that is backed by a 25 year guarantee.

Meshtec is widely recognised for producing security screens that offer uncompromising protection against intrusion. As an Interpon D Approved Applicator, the company applies Interpon D2525, a superdurable architectural powder coating that carries a warranty of up to 25 years on the coated surface. This provides a strong competitive advantage for Meshtec in both domestic and global markets.

Alongside the benefit of offering extended warranties, Managing Director Nopporn Khunyotying explains that Meshtec selects Interpon to address three core business challenges:

AkzoNobel’s Interpon D range supports these goals through its efficient single coat application system. The approach enables Meshtec to significantly improve line efficiency by coating more square metres of product using less powder. Every product manufactured at Meshtec’s facility in Chiang Mai is finished with Interpon on one of two dedicated powder coating lines.

While mesh and panels are commonly coated black for aesthetic uniformity and durability, the completed doors and windows can be supplied in a wide selection of colours to meet customer requirements.

Meshtec assesses Interpon’s performance in a holistic way. Rather than focusing on price per kilogram, the company evaluates total cost per kilogram, factoring in the efficiency of the application process, reduced material waste, fewer reworks and the repeat business gained from customers who value consistent high quality finishes. To date, Meshtec has manufactured more than one million square metres of stainless steel mesh alongside a similar volume of perforated aluminium sheets. Meshtec exports its products to 25 countries and differentiates its offer through design led engineering, reliable security performance and the premium finish delivered by Interpon powder coatings.

Meshtec is already benefitting from this commitment and has begun using a Chrome Free treatment. The business is also exploring how Interpon D’s latest Low Energy (Low E) powder coatings could further reduce energy consumption and support more sustainable manufacturing processes.
