GEA WESTFALIA SEPARATOR DEVELOPS NEW GAS TIGHT DECANTER FOR HAZARDOUS AREAS
For applications in chemical and pharmaceutical fields, where there is greater risk of explosions, GEA Westfalia Separator has developed a new economically priced gas-tight decanter available in two gas-tight versions.
One a flat cone machine,CE 345, operating as a typical clarifying decanter for solid/liquid processes. The other a CE 346 sloping- conical machine operating as an extraction decanter for use in the treatment of a three phase mixture, eg. aqueous fermentation broth plus solvent to remove water and solids (the heavy phase) from the light solvent phase ( the valuable product ).
The compact space saving design offers high capacity and efficiency and minimum energy consumption. The pedestal bearing design permits ease of access for maintenance and the entire bowl assembly is freely accessible. The 2- gear drive and integral Westfalia Separator varipond system ensure a high degree of flexibility and simple adjustment to specific process conditions.
The machines are blanketed with nitrogen to comply with explosion protection regulations and this certified system is also part of the skid as is an operating console.
