WAGO Limited celebrates silver jubilee

Listen to this article

WAGO Limited is celebrating 25 years since its formation in the UK.  It has been operating at its existing Rugby HQ since 1990, when it employed just 11 members of staff.  The team has now grown to just under a hundred and the company’s steady expansion over the period has seen WAGO become one of the major providers of advanced interconnection and automation technology products for customers in the UK and Ireland.

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH which employs more than 6,500 people in over 40 countries around the world and has a turnover in excess of half a billion pounds.

Innovation has always been at the heart of WAGO’s business philosophy.  Creator of the mould-breaking CAGE CLAMP® and PushWire spring pressure concepts, WAGO now offers over 25,000 products including connectors, rail mounted terminal blocks, I/O systems, electronic modules, PCB terminals, power supplies and many more.

The company is active in areas including building services, factory automation, food processing, water treatment, rail services, automotive, lighting control, oil & gas and marine applications.

Gordon Smith was the Managing Director at WAGO Limited when it was formed 25 years ago.  In June 2014, he was succeeded by Tony Hoyle, previously with ABB.

“Gordon’s legacy is certainly an impressive one,” says Tony. “He has created a successful and vibrant company.  The rest of the team and I are now committed to developing and implementing new plans for the future which will take the company to the next level.  As the innovators of spring pressure technology, our primary focus is to work with our customers to develop fresh and imaginative solutions across a wide range of advanced automation and technology applications.”
