Purging systems removes moisture and humidity in tyres
Brownell has developed a high pressure purging system that removes moisture and reduces the humidity within tyres to a known dryness condition. The use of nitrogen as a preferred dry gas for tyre inflation is growing as the advantages are being understood.
Air and gases have different permeation rates through tyre walls. The nitrogen permeation rate through the tyre wall is considerably less than oxygen. Nitrogen is inert and unlike oxygen prevents oxidation and corrosion.
Pressurising with dry nitrogen has many advantages for tyre inflation including less pressure loss, less pressure variation, rubber deteriation by oxidisation, improved tread life and reduced constructional materials corrosion.
Using dry nitrogen the HPN1000 purge instrument controls the purging process by cycling the gas pressure between user settable limits within the tyre and measuring the dewpoint dryness of the exhausted gas volume.
During the depressuration cycle the nitrogen gas is isolated saving 50% of the gas consumed during purging. The dewpoint control valve can be set to automatically switch off to prevent gas wastage. Using the dewpoint to control the purging process ensures that any moisture or condensation within the tyre is removed effectively. Any moisture within the barrier layer of the tyres is also removed.
HPN1000 is available in workshop model or a battery powered portable version. Pressure cycling ranges are user settable.
