The 2010 Football World Cup means the eyes of the world will be firmly focussed on South Africa and this will put the country under the international spotlight as never before. The World Cup is recognised as the most widely-viewed sporting event in the world with estimates of the global audience for the final game being put at in excess of 700 million.

South Africa were thrilled to be announced as host, but needed to start almost start from scratch in order to get the infrastructure for the stadiums into place in time.
