ABB RECEIVES 1 1/2 MILLION EURO MOTORS AND DRIVES ORDER FOR UAE

ABB is supplying 1000 hazardous area motors and 150 variable speed drives worth EUR1.5 million as part of a massive project by Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO) to expand its gas processing facilities in the United Arab Emirates.

The OGD-III Project is designed to process 1,306 million standard cubic feet per day of condensate rich gas at Habshan near Abu Dhabi. The plant will produce 11, 800 tons per day of Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) for export and 130, 000 barrels per day of condensate, to be used as fuel locally.

The main facilities comprise two trains, each of which includes separation, condensate stabilisation, gas treatment and NGL recovery facilities. The project also includes installation of a gas re-injection system and a separate NGL pipeline from Habshan to Ruwais. The main contractor on the project is Bechtel (UK) and the project is due for completion by April 2008.
