SIEMENS’ SPACE UG CONFERENCE FOR SIMATIC PCS7 PROCESS CONTROL SYSTEM GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
Siemens has reported increased attendance at its latest SPACE UG conference which took place recently in York.
The two-day conference brought together representatives from a number of businesses across many sectors that make up the UK-installed base for Siemens’ SIMATIC PCS7 process control system. The conference provides an opportunity for users of the industry-leading system to share their experiences with their peer group, as well as have the chance to meet with Siemens’ technical staff.
In addition to a number of key-note speeches that covered a broad range of subjects including approaches to safety, the manufacturing skills gap and the recent evolution of process automation, a series of break-out sessions allowed delegates to attend in-depth discussions concerning technical issues such as Cyber Security, Virtualisation for a modern production environment and case studies of PCS7 in action.
Guest speaker was Steve Nevey from Formula One World Champions, Red Bull Racing who gave an insight into the engineering and logistical challenges that face FI teams every year.
SPACE UG Chairman, John Williamson, Principal Engineer at United Utilities said: “We are delighted to see attendance numbers for the conference rise year-on-year. The delegates who represent companies from many sectors including automotive, chemical, and food and beverage, value the chance to share their experiences with other users and such dialogue can often provide assistance as they strive to tackle issues on their own sites.”
Simon Ellam for Siemens Industry Automation, comments: “We obtain valuable feedback at the conference which is communicated to our HQ so that the PCS7 user experience can inform future research and development decisions. It was great to witness the positive way the attendees approached the conference and the comments we received underline the value the user group take away from the gathering.”
