Verder UK is proud to announce the victory of its Football team in the Verder European Cup 2011.
The annual competition in Vleuten, Holland sees teams assembled from each local Verder Distributor in Europe. The Verder UK team brought together Engineers, Sales, R&D, Marketing and Operations that had grit, determination and a map to find the way to the ground. Although the Verder UK team on paper were underdogs, our boys and girls overcame teams from Verder Holland, Retsch Germany (laboratory instruments division) and Van Wijk and Boermer (Holland) to meet the 2010 winners: The representatives from Verder Germany.
Verder UK scored early to make it 1-0, and despite a strong fightback from Germany, the UK held firm until the final whistle. As the sun set on a warm, Autumn evening, the team with furrowed brows and tired legs saw Captain Anthony Beckwith (Verdermag Global Product Manager) lift the cup to the roar of the crowd.
Following the celebrations, Anthony found time to speak to our man, pitchside: “Well, it was tough and there were no easy games. It was a long, hard road to the final but the team gave 110%. It was a game of two halves but we got an early goal and didn’t want to sit back. We took the game to them and at the end of the day we were the better team. I’m over the moon for us.”
