PPE wins prestigious manufacturer of the year award
Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high performance moulded elastomer seals has just been crowned manufacturer of the year at the prestigious Lancashire Telegraph Business Awards 2013.
More than 300 people attended the glitzy ceremony staged at Ewood Park, Blackburn, on Friday 15th November to celebrate the successes of entrepreneurs and their companies over the past 12 months. The awards cover a geographic area which is recognised as the powerhouse of UK manufacturing and contains many of the UK’s leading technical and specialist manufacturing companies adding further credibility to this award category. PPE was also highly commended in the Training and Development category in recognition of the training structure the company has in place for its employees.
Human resources director at PPE, Gary Rae, said; “winning was absolutely wonderful” after being presented with a trophy by Jawid Hussain, president of the award’s sponsor, Accrol Papers.
He said: “We are proud to be based in East Lancashire and we believe strongly in the skills and dedication of the people we recruit from this area. It’s great that everyone in PPE is recognised through this award and they all share the honour. At the awards ceremony itself we wanted to reflect that fact by bringing a team from right across the business so that they all got the recognition they deserved.”
Lancashire Telegraph editor, Kevin Young, praised the winners for their performance against the backdrop of the country’s worst recession for decades.
He said: “Throughout these tough times all kinds of firms in East Lancashire have battled on.
“It is testament to the indomitable spirit and character of people in this part of the country that despite the difficulties, new firms have continued to spring up and many existing businesses have continued to grow and thrive. Mr Young added: “It was an excellent night and I want to congratulate all the winners and say well done to all those who were shortlisted.”
Paul Gillyon, PPE Managing Director said; “We were up against some very strong contenders for this award. The region has many excellent manufacturing companies so to win this accolade is fantastic for the whole team at PPE.”
