Camfil to acquire Handte and expand in air pollution control systems
Camfil, the world leader in air filters and clean air solutions, signed an agreement on January 31, 2014 to acquire 100% of Handte Umwelttechnik GmbH in Germany and Handte’s operations in Switzerland, the Czech Republic and China. The acquisition, pending approval from the authorities in Germany, is expected to be closed in the first quarter this year.
Handte is the leading German manufacturer and provider of environmental engineering products, filter technology processes and air pollution control applications. With more than 120 years of experience, the company is a recognized specialist in exhaust air purification for a wide range of manufacturing industries.
Handte will be part of Camfil’s Air Pollution Control (APC) business unit and strengthen Camfil’s platform for growing APC business in Europe. The Handte product line strategically complements Camfil APC’s range and also broadens Camfil’s systems portfolio in the United States.
“Handte fits perfectly into Camfil. The acquisition will expand our offering and add substantial specialist knowledge, technology and production capacity for systems and solutions for metalworking industry and other industrial customers in Europe and in Asia. I look forward to closing the deal and welcoming Managing Director Jakob Handte and his team to Camfil,” says Magnus Yngen, CEO of the Camfil Group.
“Camfil was our preferred strategic partner for Handte Group, which posted record results for the 2013 financial year. I am looking forward to further developing the APC business of Camfil on a worldwide basis in my new function as CTO,” says Dr. Jakob Handte, former shareholder of Handte Umwelttechnik.
