Bolstered sector support from Siemens Industry

Listen to this article

Siemens Industry has further strengthened its commitment to UK manufacturing and infrastructure with the announcement of six new sector head roles – leading dedicated and specialist teams focusing further on the needs of key sectors.

This strengthening of the company’s sector-driven structure will enable further bespoke support for individual industries addressing distinct requirements in areas of industrial technology, in particular automation and drive technology solutions.

The focus sectors benefitting from a bolstered team of specialists are water, led by Andrew Reeks, food and beverage, led by Mark Jackson, chemicals, led by Sean McDonagh, pharmaceuticals, led by Alan Johnston, glass and solar led by Steve Martin, and automotive, which sees Stuart Moran at the helm.

The sector heads will explore growth potential in the vertical markets across the UK, with a view to bringing intelligence to the entire product development and production process and adding maximum value to users. In doing so, the strategy will also strengthen and significantly expand the technology-based service business.

Brian Holliday, Divisional Director, Siemens Industry Automation says: “We understand that the challenges and issues facing our broad spectrum of industrial clients can vary across sectors.  For example, what concentrates the minds of water companies differs significantly from the concerns of the automotive sector.  The appointment of the six vertical sector heads places real industry experts at the forefront of Siemens Industry’s focus on assisting our customers.

“This approach will enable us to more clearly demonstrate the contributory value of automation and drive technology to our customers in the context of their immediate challenges, whilst passing on the benefit of a broad supply base and the potential for best practice sharing.

“Working with customers in critical areas like maximising operational efficiencies, creating flexible production platforms, tackling energy and safety-related challenges and helping realise the benefits of technology investment to drive productivity continues to be our primary remit.  Our expert vertical sector heads and strengthened teams of sector specialists will help us to continue to drive this focus forward.”
