SEALLESS HANDLES SOLIDS
Dispelling the Myth – HMD Kontro Sealless Pumps Can Handle Fluids with Solids
Contrary to popular belief, sealless, magnetic drive pumps, can easily handle a percentage of solids in the pumped fluid. Recent developments from HMD Kontro have allowed many pumps within their portfolio to expand their versatility and many other operating parameters.
Up to twenty percent solids can be handled, with filtration. However, perhaps more impressively, standard pumps, without any filter equipment, can handle up to five percent solids (at 150 microns) within the solution.
Traditionally utilised for hot, hazardous and harmful fluids, magnetic drive pumps are now finding wider application as their capabilities and low through-life costs are further proven. This is making them a cost-effective alternative to mechanical sealed pumps, particularly because costly seal support systems are not required and maintenance is much reduced. Also, because of their no-leak or emission advantage, they are an environmental and safer alternative.
Further expanding the operating envelope, within which HMD Kontros sealless pumps can now operate, recent developments mean that flows of up to 2,000 m3/hour litres per hour 8800 USGPM) can now be handled. Also, heads of up to 350m / 1140 differential and pressures of up to 250 bar / 2600 PSI.
HMD Kontro recently published a Know-How guide to magnetic drive pumps, providing the latest information and example through life calculations for their pumps.
