SSP OFFERS PUMPING SOLUTION FOR ATEX
Where safety is paramount the SSP Pumps product range offers customers ATEX Certified rotary lobe pumps under the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC Group II, Categories 2 and 3, Gas and Dust.
SSP ATEX Certification applies to both Series S and Series X pumps that have, as standard, metallic wetted components manufactured from 316L stainless steel. These pumps are capable of achieving flow rates up to 115 m³/h and differential pressures up to 20 bar.
One important consideration with the application of pumps in an ATEX environment is the primary sealing device. As mechanical seals can generate high temperatures, particularly when subjected to dry running, some safeguard should be considered to detect such conditions. Here, SSP Pumps have developed their own solution for mechanical seals to enable customers to maintain the highest level of safety. This takes the form of single, single flushed or double flushed mechanical seal options which can be supplied with an embedded Type K thermocouple. Thermocouples can be connected to any appropriate monitoring device or PLC system to warn of increasing high surface temperature at the mechanical seal faces in the event of some system failure.
