Save costs with the new Masterflex hose connecting systems
Sales Manager Beitz: “Compatible with all standard connectors, our novel connecting system holds the potential to become a trendsetter.”

“Now, of all times, we strongly focus on cost-saving hose solutions. That is why we offer our customers novel connecting systems that allow easy combination with and continued use of existing standard connectors employed in all kinds of industries,” explains Alfons Beitz, Sales Manager at Masterflex AG. Unsurprisingly so, as the Gelsenkirchen-based company is known as the expert for upmarket hose and connecting systems made of innovative high-tech plastics, fabrics, and foils.
The novel inhouse-developed clamping system fits many wire-reinforced Masterflex hoses and ensures quick and easy hose installation. The new system is compatible with most commercial standard connectors used in various industries. This translates into direct cost savings for the hose user who can stick with tried and tested connector systems.
No matter whether common Camlok, Storz, and TW hose connectors or customized coupling types are in use, they all can be easily connected by screwing them to a threaded hose socket. Moreover, connecting pieces with such geometries may be directly integrated into the hose. Here, the hose collar ensures an absolutely tight connection of wire-reinforced hoses.
Sales Manager Beitz: “Combining immense versatility, prompt availability, high quality and efficiency, the new connecting system holds the potential to become a trendsetter for the bulk and materials handling industries.”
The advantages of the new clamping system at a glance
- The customer may continue using existing connecting pieces with standard or very specific geometries.
- The customer obtains a hose tailored to the existing connecting piece dimensions and his specific needs.
- The customer obtains a suitable PU collar that provides a smooth hose end and defines the outer diameter.
- The customer may continue using existing systems matching the outer collar diameter or may obtain a commercial system from Masterflex (half-clamp system).
Masterflex asks customers what they really need
But where does the new product idea actually come from?
Sales Manager Alfons Beitz: “We interviewed a sample of customers and end-customers to identify their needs. This survey has fundamentally contributed to the development of our new connecting systems. Of course, we always aim to outperform our competitors who often sell specially cut connectors, and we have obviously succeeded in doing so.” Let the facts speak for themselves:
- Continued use of commercial components
- Maximum compatibility
- Inexpensive and readily available
- Easy handling
- Flexible system
- Available from DN 38 to DN 204
- Bulk material protective design
- Available with or without integrated hose socket
The current customer survey identified the following deficiencies of other systems on the market:
* Customers need to check in each case whether customized or commercial hose sockets can be used.
* Hose inner diameter and connector diameter cannot be determined by the customer.
* Systems are only compatible with hose types, thus excluding customized hoses.
* Continued use of customized or commercial connectors is not possible.
What are the main advantages of the new connecting system?
Jürgen Berling, responsible for engineering and product development activities at the Masterflex AG, explains why competitors just cannot technically keep up with new connecting systems: “Although some competitors may use aluminium clamps, these come with an integrated internal thread that makes them compatible with a single hose type only. Other hoses just don’t fit. Besides, we have found such systems to be only available for a few hose diameters.
Moreover, the internally threaded systems are far more expensive to manufacture than standard mass-produced clamp systems that are compatible with the new Masterflex connecting system. Our competition is also left behind with regard to the range of available sockets.”
