A New Standard For Isolation Flap Valves
The REMBE® Q-FLAP COMPACT II – certified to en16447 – the only valve with a swing lid for easy opening and fully reversible flap for ease of ‘in-line’ cleaning.
The New standard BS EN 16447 for Isolation Flap Valves is now published and supersedes the old standard BS EN 15089
What is the difference and why has it changed?
EN 16447 differentiates between in-line isolation of St.1 and St.2 Dusts both of which are subject to new and stringent testing in order to gain ATEX Compliant certification.
- Specific application data needs to be defined (eg ‘Metal Dusts’)
- Testing needs to be conducted with Dust in Ductwork
- Testing of Min/Max mounting Distances – Min/Max K-Value
- Distinction between Push-Flow and Pull-Flow applications. Push-Flow needs to be tested with air.
- After closure the valve shall stay closed long enough to avoid the transmission of flames during an explosion event.
Although this sounds simple enough the explosion parameters that the valves are now subjected to during testing and certifying
REMBE® were proud to be the first and still remain one of the very few to offer valves certified to this new standard with the Q-FLAP COMPACT II. Valves tested and certified for St.2 dusts with a max Pred of 0.7Barg Cover sizes DN100, DN140, DN160, DN200, DN250, DN280 and DN315. Larger sizes for St.2 dust applications are still under development and will be released to market in the coming months.
Don’t be caught out with non-compliance to this new standard. Ask to see the EN16447 certificate if in doubt.
