AkzoNobel provides ageless Terracotta finish long life with powder coatings

Listen to this article

AkzoNobel has introduced the Interpon D2525 Terracotta Effect Collection – a series of super durable powder coatings that realises the ageless appearance of Terracotta but overcomes the natural product's limitations.

Developed for modern architectural design, the new collection enables designers and specifiers to create eye-catching façades with a warm, earthy finish that is both functional and durable.

The Interpon D2525 Terracotta Effect Range consists of 12 individual colours inspired by the character of Moroccan ceramics – from classic earthy reds to glazed-effect forest greens, azure blues, and vibrant yellows.

The coatings deliver the high-performance benefits for which the Interpon D series is well-known, including excellent colour retention and film integrity, with all the benefits possible in a single coat.

Traditional Terracotta is usually weighty, difficult to fit and prone to cracking due to impact or building movement. Interpon's new powder coatings eliminate these problems.

We know our customers desire to create building façades that look like this increasingly-popular material, but also want to deliver a robust, long-lasting vibrant finish at an achievable cost, says Jorrit van Rijn, Global Marketing Director at AkzoNobel Powder Coatings.

This new collection fulfils that desire and is yet another demonstration of how we continue on our journey of ceaseless innovation,” he adds. “We not only follow trends but also help determine what comes next, inspiring our customers with new ideas and imaginative solutions to bring their creations to life.”

Part of the Interpon D architectural powder coatings' range, the Terracotta Effect series is supported by a global warranty of up to 25 years for the performance of the coating when applied by an Interpon D Approved Applicator. The range is certified to Qualicoat Class 2 and GSB Master standards and conforms to the performance requirements of AAMA 2604.

As well as enhanced durability and aesthetic appeal, the new product line is aligned with AkzoNobel's approach to sustainability. Underpinned by an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), the entire lifecycle of the coatings, from raw material extraction, production and transportation, has been independently assessed for environmental transparency.

Interpon D2525 Terracotta Effect Range is being introduced across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, offering architects and specifiers a novel, long-lasting and sustainable alternative to natural Terracotta.
