ARC ENERGY WEATHERS RECESSION WITH SECOND HIGHEST TURNOVER

Listen to this article

Leading weld overlay cladding and fabrication specialist Arc Energy Resources has recorded the second highest annual turnover in the company’s seventeen-year history, achieving a figure just a few thousand pounds short of £5 million.

Managing director Alan Robinson says that in a challenging business environment the company has continued to invest in equipment and people, allowing the company to develop.

“During the recession we’ve planned for the future” he says: “spending £500,000 on two new Rotating Head welding machines in order to extend the size and scope of corrosion resistant coating contracts we can handle.”

He also says the company, which provides highly specialised anticorrosion engineering and fabrication services for equipment installed in hostile environments in the oil & gas, chemical, water, nuclear and defence industries, has a healthy order book going into 2012 and he anticipates another good year.

The £½million Rotating Head welding machines complement Arc Energy’s dedicated cladding workstations, which are designed in-house and feature state-of-the-art control systems developed to suit the company’s specialised engineering requirements.

The combination of specifically designed workstations and welding system provides more precise control, allowing weld deposits to be laid to much finer tolerances and positioned with greater accuracy. A smoother finish also limits the amount of alloy used and reduces the post weld machining time, which results in a double saving for customers.

The company is able to clad bores up to four metres diameter and areas of restricted access within bores as small as 20mm diameter. Typical weld overlay materials include Inconel 625 & 825, Monel, Hastalloy and stainless steels amongst others. In addition, Arc Energy also offers in-house test weld, heat treatment, PMI and NDT facilities.

Alan Robinson, one of very few UK registered European Welding Engineers, says few welding specialists can equal Arc Energy’s capability to support clients with highly qualified, experienced welding staff.
