AkzoNobel Vehicle Refinishes welcomes UK Vehicle Accident Repair Industry Environmental Standard (ARIES) launch
ARIES is a UK-wide industry initiative aimed at measuring and reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions in the vehicle accident repair sector. Supported by AkzoNobel investment and other industry players like leading motor insurers, ARIES supports research development and rigorous verification of sustainability activity so that repairers can take effective climate action.
With rising energy costs and the imperative to manage emissions, ARIES is a realistic step-by-step change process for repairers. It begins with a pledge and works its way through milestones recognizing quantifiable progress as energy usage and carbon emission are tracked, controlled and reduced. The ultimate reward is lower operating costs, reduced emissions and greater client and customer recognition for an industry that is future-proof.
While global standards could be high and needs of work providers might vary, ARIES offers one simple-to-use ‘bridge of understanding' that guides repairers through logical steps to give benefits in the short, medium and long terms.
Frank Delaney, UK&I Country Sales Leader, AkzoNobel Vehicle Refinishes says this is a crucial milestone for the UK’s vehicle repair industry: “With PAS 2060 being phased out by the end of this year, ARIES is the perfect replacement to help businesses adapt to future requirements. ARIES is built around a framework that allows everyone in the sector to participate in this essential journey toward environmental reform.”
“With industry collaboration at its core,” Frank explains, “ARIES will support measurable carbon reduction and provide transparency, no matter the size of the company or available resources.By working together, we are defining a future where sustainability is at the forefront, within all businesses, large or small, contributing to a meaningful environmental impact.”
The ARIES site is not-for-profit providing an information gateway and carbon disclosure system to industry. It views risks as opportunities and impacts and converts data into action.
