Robert Strong

Robert James Strong is a doctoral candidate in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Dayton (UD). He is on track to graduate with a Doctorate of Engineering (DE) in December 2020, having successfully defended his dissertation on the use of lattice Boltzmann methodology to improve design procedures in the mixing industry. He currently works in the petrochemical industry as a design certifying engineer with Oilmen’s Truck Tanks, responsible for certifying truck tanks to Department of Transportation (DOT) and Transport Canada (TC) specs and requirements as well as oversee research and development. Before joining the engineering department at Oilmen’s Truck Tanks, he worked for the Power Division of General Electric as a Lead Structural Heat Transfer Engineer and in the Research and Development branch for mixers as part of National Oilwell Varco. Robert ran a simulation consulting business, Strong Simulation Consulting LLC as well. He obtained a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (B.C.E.) and a Master of Science in Materials Engineering (M.Sc.) from UD. He has coauthored a peer reviewed journal paper for work relating to droplet spreading in conjuncture with an Honors Thesis as an undergraduate, and has coauthored several conference proceedings.
