Listen to this article

Barry Callebaut, the World”s leading manufacturer of high-quality cocoa and chocolate products recently purchased a specially developed stainless steel Pure-Screen duplex filter system and frame from filtration specialists, Axium Process, which is completely jacketed to ensure the product temperature will be maintained to close limits. The duplex filter system which utilises a combination of stainless steel wedge-wire and mesh filter screens, is designed to offer high product security as well as a consistently filtered product.

Axium”s range of 316L stainless steel Pure-Screen wedge-wire filters is being widely used throughout the confectionery, food, beverage, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries and is ideally suited for liquid viscous products such as chocolate, yoghurt, butter, soft cheese, creams and sauces as the wedge-wire filter elements not only remove unwanted particles but blend and mix any undissolved materials in suspension resulting in a consistently smooth product throughout every batch.

The Pure-Screen filter, which is available with a range of interchangeable filter elements from 25 up to 6000 micron, is manufactured in accordance with ASME-BPE principles and has material traceability to BS EN 10204 (3.1). For companies requiring full traceability, Axium Process also provides certification for weld logging, weld mark up, internal and external surface roughness, pressure test, passivation and ferroxyl testing.

Axium Process” range of filters includes a shorter more compact version of the Pure-Screen wedge-wire standard filter designed specifically for low flow applications or installation in confined spaces, the Fine-Screen mesh filter range which is designed for finer particulate applications requiring filtration levels below 75 micron and the Econ-Screen perforated sheet filter range, which is designed for coarse filtration or as a “last chance” filter.
