Blagdon Pump reduce downtime and make improvements to the health and safety for Chemical Plant employees

The Blagdon pump was installed approximately 14 months ago and was put in place to draw MEK from a ground based holding tank. The pump draws the chemical which is then loaded into barrels ready for transport to the End User. During the time the pump has been in situ there has been no maintenance or downtime. This has resulted in significant savings for the End User compared to the previous competitive AODD pump that was in place.

The previous pump had problems with stalling out and more importantly, because it was clamp banded around the outer covers it continually leaked under pressure, it caused a great hazard to employees having to clean the spillages. Due to Blagdons pump being a bolted construction this resulted in a major improvement to health and safety conditions for the employees. Blagdons reliability has also resulted in the reduction of pump spares inventory required on site.

The Blagdon pump has enabled the plant to reduce the amount of MEK stored in barrels ready for collection. The Blagdon delivery system offers excellent “on – off” reliability and barrels are filled when the truck comes to collect; this has never happened before.
