Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions Unveils Bredel Heavy Duty Hose Pump at bauma 2025
Key points
Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) will introduce its latest innovation, the Bredel Heavy Duty pump, designed specifically for the mining and construction industries, at bauma 2025 (7 – 13 April).
Part of WMFTS’s Bredel hose pump range, this new Heavy Duty model features enhanced safety measures and improved durability. It will be showcased for the first time at stand C2.339 in Munich (Messe München), Germany.
Advanced Pumping Solution for Mining and Construction
The Heavy Duty pump is an ideal choice for handling challenging materials, including abrasive, high-solid content slurries, thick sludge, and corrosive fluids. It offers flow rates of up to 108,000 L/h and pressures reaching 16 bar.
Visitors can learn from WMFTS mining experts about the pump’s enhanced frame, which allows safer transport via forklift, and its bearings, which extend lifespan when handling high-solid content slurries. Additional safety features include:
- A window guard for extra protection
- A flange bracket that minimises lubricant leakage and reduces maintenance
- A C4H paint coating for increased resistance in harsh environments
This event presents a unique opportunity for attendees to explore how WMFTS peristaltic pumps and hoses, tailored for demanding mining and construction applications, contribute to more efficient and sustainable operations.
Sustainable and Low-Maintenance Pumping Solutions
Bredel hose pumps and Qdos® chemical metering pumps from WMFTS offer low-maintenance solutions with significant benefits, including reduced environmental impact, lower water consumption, and improved energy efficiency.
These durable peristaltic pumps are particularly effective for applications such as thickener underflow transfer and accurate reagent dosing, enhancing operational efficiency.
Wilfried Staijen, Global Business Development Manager – Mining at WMFTS, commented:
“Bredel, Qdos and Watson-Marlow pumps are empowering mining companies worldwide to achieve their production and sustainability goals. Whether handling polymers, flocculants, reagents, abrasive lime slurries, or corrosive chemicals, pumps and hoses from Watson-Marlow can accurately control the flow with minimal downtime for maintenance and very low-cost parts inventory. Importantly, pumps such as Bredel or Qdos can be relied upon in remote locations without the need for freshwater sources or ancillary equipment.
Unlike conventional pumps, our peristaltic pumps use a hose or tube as the primary wear part, which minimises maintenance and downtime due to internal wear. This design ensures reliable performance, which is crucial in harsh mining environments where equipment durability is essential.
Bredel hose pumps have a robust construction so they can handle high solids content and strong acids without damage or contamination, which makes them ideal solutions for thickener underflow, tailings transfer, concentrate filter feed, and chemical metering.”

About us
Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG) peristaltic tube and hose pumps meet requirements including: value for money; low cost of ownership; reliability and ease of maintenance to the food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, mining and many other industries.
We demonstrate how pumps deliver significant process efficiencies over the lifetime of the equipment. Whether performing flavouring addition in food processing, chemical metering in water treatment or mineral recovery, we have a solution which can cut pump downtime and reduce costs through higher accuracy metering and transfer. WMFTG has dedicated application engineers available to help customers make the right pump and tubing choice from a range providing microlitres per minute to 80 cubic metres per hour flow rates.
The only part of the pump to come into contact with the product is the tube or hose. This means there are no seals or valves that can wear or fail. Replacing the tube or hose can be performed quickly and safely. Peristaltic pump benefits include:
Total fluid containment with no seals No ancillaries Handle viscous and abrasive slurries and sludge Self-priming capability Dry running without damage to the pump In addition to their range of positive displacement pumps, Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group has added PTFE-lined chemical and industrial hoses to their range. Aflex hoses are reinforced to withstand the most severe conditions and use.
