CASTLE CEMENT IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY WITH NEW TANKER FILLING SYSTEM
With a large tanker fleet comprising several vehicle types, Castle Cement placed flexibility high on their list of requirements when commissioning a new tanker filling system.
Application
Emptying one tonne bags of cement into bulk tankers
Problem
• Tankers vary in height and configuration
• Need to allow for new tankers coming on stream in the future
• Dust containment
Solution
• A single FIBC frame and hopper mounted on castors so it can easily be rolled into
• position alongside the tanker and then moved forward and secured in place.
• Integral knife arrangement to split the bag and drop the contents into the screw elevator
• mounted underneath.
• The screw elevator then feeds directly into the tanker
• An access ladder is provided along the side of the elevator allowing the operator access
• to the top of the tanker to secure the outlet feed into the tanker filling point
• Moduflex coupling between the tanker and the screw conveyor outlet to allow for all
• tanker heights and configuration
• Integrated filter module with its own fan and pressure tank ensuring that the filters are
• kept continuously clean
• A seal round the top edge of the hopper to ensure it is dust tight and prevent cement
• leaking into the atmosphere
Result
Increased numbers of tankers can be filled in each hour with reduced manpower.
Castle Cement’s Kevin Taylor is pleased with how the project went: “The finished design does exactly what we wanted. This is in part due to the willingness of Guttridge’s design team to accommodate our requests, including making fine-tuning modifications on site to get the most from the system.”
