CONTINUOUS TOTAL MERCURY MONITORING
DURAG GROUP (founded 1948) has established a reputation for developing and manufacturing a range of high quality products in the field of environmental monitoring for the measurement of Particulates, Volumetric Flow, Total Mercury and Environmental Data Management.
The Mercury Monitor (HM-1400 TR), approved by TUV and MCERTS is designed for the rigors of both WID and LCPD processes. Based on a design that uses a dual path measuring system to eliminate interferences, no sample pre-concentration is required. This, along with the low voltage mercury vapour lamp and solid-phase catalyst (used to convert “ionic” species to elemental Mercury) dramatically reduces the maintenance requirements and costs.
Calibration is now achieved by the introduction of an Ionic Mercury solution directly into the heated probe. This not only allows constant monitoring of the catalyst, but allows calibration of the complete mercury monitoring system.
This monitor has recently been used in an important study at a UK incinerator, results from which show excellent correlation with the standard extractive test method.
