Essentra Wins Gold Medal for Sustainability by EcoVadis

Listen to this article

Essentra Components, the leading UK producer of basic industrial components, was awarded a gold medal by EcoVadis, the world's leading business sustainability rating organization. The firm was awarded due to constant improvement and commitment to sustainable manufacturing and socially responsible supply chain management.

The latest assessment places Essentra in the top 2% of rated companies in the world by EcoVadis for producing plastic products, and in the top 1% in terms of environmental performance.

Director of ESG at Essentra, Jennifer Spence, was thrilled with the achievement and reiterated the company's strategic focus on sustainability:

This gold accreditation, achieved recently, is a testament to our path on our way to sustainability and our aspiration to be a world leader as a responsible and respected provider of essential industrial parts.**

There's always more to accomplish, but this score validates that we're in the right direction and working our best for the good of both our customers and the world.”.

EcoVadis issues certifications based on comprehensive ratings of a business's environmental, social, and ethical performance. Essentra's gold medal attests that it is one of the leading 5% of companies ranked, scoring 77 out of 100. The rating is given on 21 sustainability criteria meeting international Sustainable Development standards, across four key themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

This achievement is added to Essentra's recent enviable record for environmental performance. The company received an A- in action on climate change in the Climate Disclosure Project, a B rating in Water, and a B- in Forests. It also recorded 20 zero waste to landfill locations, exceeding two thirds (67%) of all sites managed.

Essentra's EcoVadis gold medal underscores the company's growing reputation as a sustainable and ethical manufacturing supplier, and solidifies its place in leading environmental transformation across the manufacturing of plastics and components sector.
