New Industrial Ethernet Switches Support Profinet & Ethernet Standards
- Cost-effective, entry-level devices available in three different widths
- Support included for both Profinet and EtherNet/IP
- Five year warranty with Scalance XB-200 and every Scalance product delivered from 1 January 2015
Siemens UK & Ireland has expanded its range of managed industrial Ethernet switches with a new product line, Scalance XB-200, which comes with a five year warranty across all three device versions.
The cost-effective switches provide high data rates – up to 100 Mbps – and multiple functions, including support for both Profinet and Ethernet standards, which users can shift between with ease using the dedicated function. As a result, the devices can be used for real-time communication in a variety of automation environments.
Scalance XB-200 devices are available in widths of 40mm, 80mm and 120mm, making them ideal for environments with limited space. Despite their compact size, Scalance XB-200 switches are robust, certified for use in hazardous areas, flexible – covering distances up to 26 km in single mode – and powerful, with the ability to monitor large networks with tools such as Sinema Server.
The devices also incorporate support for Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) security functions such as multicast blocking, loop detection and access control via Radius Server; this allows them to be integrated into existing authentication protocols for total network security.
Siemens UK & Ireland has also ensured protection from downtime by including an alternative power supply with two three-pin connectors. In case of an error, diagnostics and network management settings can be accessed via a command line or the web interface of the Scalance XB-200 itself. A five year warranty is also included, as with all Scalance products delivered on or after January 1, 2015.
Ian Poulett, Head of Sales – Industrial Communications & Identification, Siemens UK & Ireland, comments: “This new addition to our product portfolio means greater choice and flexibility for manufacturers looking for a compact, yet highly robust Ethernet switch. Our ongoing investment in the Scalance range, as well as our wider industrial communications portfolio, demonstrates our commitment to helping manufacturers meet industry challenges now, and in the future.”
