Similar expansions strategies in Central and Eastern Europe have led to cooperation with large potential

Lactalis, the second largest dairy producer in the world, relies on the performance of Greiner Packaging International. The leading European company for plastic and plastic-cardboard packaging is based in Kremsmünster, Upper Austria, and has worked its way up to become the “preferred supplier” to the French dairy concern. The roots for a permanently intensifying partnership go back to the CEE countries.

Kremsmünster, 23 February 2009. – At an early stage, Greiner Packaging secured its excellent market position in new Europe and gradually enlarged it. During the last few years, Lactalis has also strongly expanded on these markets and taken over several dairy producers.

Expansion synergies
Many years ago, the first common projects were being brought to life in the CEE countries. An excellent cooperation between the two companies was set up step by step. Today, both Greiner Packaging and Lactalis have locations in Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Russia. These common interests and the focus on common markets create an ideal basis for synergy-winning cooperation.

Product variety needs packaging variety
In addition to the geographical benefits of the locations, the comprehensive offer by Greiner Packaging also ideally suits Lactalis’ requirements. The wide range of packaging variety starts with an efficient standard cup and is rounded off with high-quality premium packaging. It covers all basic consumer demands and trends.

Economical and innovative way into the future
In their common projects, Greiner Packaging and Lactalis have potentials for economising and standardisation. Existing packaging concepts are constantly scrutinised for profitability and subject to permanent development. In both companies, the innovation theme is of high priority. Furthermore, it significantly determines the next step in cooperation. For the development of target group specific products in particular, such as children’s yoghurt, innovative contents and packaging perfectly suit each other.

Corporate Data
Greiner Packaging is one of the leading companies in the European packaging industry. In 2007, the company achieved annual sales of EUR 351.7 million or 32 percent of the total Greiner Group sales. Greiner Packaging employs a workforce of 2,869 employees at 21 production sites throughout Europe.
