Grundfos have a clear vision for the future
Today, more than 2.4 million people have access to water thanks to a unique partnership between Grundfos Pumps and World Vision, who are the largest nongovernmental provider of clean water to the developing world.
We are all very aware that handwashing – a basic hygiene activity – is one of the key control elements that has taken on a whole new meaning during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact a study found that regular handwashing, decreases the chances of infection by 36%. Yet many people in the
developing world are denied access to this option that could help keep them safe, because of a lack of water access.
World Vision have already installed more than 1,000 Grundfos solar-powered pumps in sub-Saharan African villages in order to provide a sustained water supply. The proven, yet simple supply process involves digging a well that will serve as the community's water source, fitting the solar-powered Grundfos pumps and storing the water in an overhead tank. Pipework is then used to distribute the water to residents.
Not only are these mechanised systems environmentally friendly and able to provide accessible water points for the community, but they are less expensive to install, than traditional boreholes.
