HAND-HELD SPRAY DETECTS ACID SPILLS AND LEAKS

Listen to this article

A translucent yellow spray that turns purple immediately upon contact with even small drops of acid of pH 2.6 or lower, has recently been added to the ALLISON ENGINEERING range of OnGuard acid detection products. The ACID SPOTR acid detection spray is a simple, yet effective method of identifying hazardous spills and acts as an early warning system to plant operators.

The spray can be applied whenever an acid leak has occurred or is suspected of occurring and for determining surface contamination. After a confirmed, or suspected acid spill has occurred, Acid SpotR will define the perimeter and extent of the leak or spill. Once the spill has been cleaned up in accordance with the local health and safety regulations, the affected area can be retested with the spray to confirm an effective clean-up.

Acid SpotR is also an indispensable tool when determining whether a repair on an acid or chlorine container or transporting component was effective. Additionally, the spray can be used prior to coating acid or chlorine containers and transporting components, to determine if the surfaces have been compromised with acid contamination.

The spray works well on most surfaces and has applications in laboratories, at weld sites, on valves, pipes, flanges or pumps, on tools, in or around containment areas, and in loading / unloading zones.

Acid SpotR spray is effective on a wide range of acids including; hydrofluoric, hydrochloric, sulphuric, nitric, trifluoroacetic, citric, phosphoric, glacial acetic and other acids pH 2.6 or lower.

The spray is ideal for anyone working in acid environments including those involved in industrial safety, laboratories, filed and plant inspection, hazmat response or decontamination.
