Landia Chopper Pumps Head to Australia for Multi-Million-Dollar STP Upgrade
Chopper Pumps manufactured by Landia are set for installation in Queensland, Australia, where a major sewage treatment plant (STP) is undergoing a multi-million-dollar upgrade.
Eight Landia MPTK-GI units will be the centre of the plant's sludge process treatment, with the plant hoping to increase efficiency and save on operating costs as demand grows along Australia's sand-rich coastline.
To be finished by 2028, the modernisation of the STP close to several of the region's most popular surfing attractions, will provide serviceability to an additional 25,000 residents over the next 20 years.
The Landia Chopper Pump, the world's first to be manufactured, created by the company in 1950, has an external knife system that keeps solids out of the pump case. This has earned a well-established reputation world-wide for reliability and long service life in wastewater treatment.
The new order follows an order from STORTEC Engineering for Landia's GasMix digester mixing system for 4000m³ digesters in Australia. Landia is also supplying its JetMix system for a hydrolysis tank in a new food-waste-to-energy facility in the nation.
