Latest GEA Video focusses on Home and Personal Care (HPC) Processing
GEA Process Engineering Ltd in the UK has recently launched a new video that looks at its role as the GEA global technology centre for Home and Personal Care (HPC) processing. The video focusses on the daily operations of the team in Warrington and on the unique combination of technology, engineering know-how and product development services it is able to offer worldwide through the dedicated HPC centre.
The video is presented by Hisham Fyyaz, the company’s Sales Manager for HPC. Hisham explains that the centre is small, nimble and staffed by young, enthusiastic engineers with diverse ideas, yet it can draw on the vast experience and knowledge available within the whole GEA Group.
He says that the centre prefers to work on a knowledge-sharing basis with its customers. “Change,” he says, “is the only consistent thing in the industry.” This means that customers and suppliers need to work together to spot opportunities and react to them effectively to bring new products to market quickly and profitably. For example, he says that his customers are increasingly asking for products with multiple properties such as moisturising, anti-wrinkle and skin whitening. The ability to run product trials and perform in-house testing is very much in demand.
But in a competitive market cost is important too. Hisham explains that GEA has developed modular, standard designs for processing a wide range of HPC products such as shampoo, body washes and creams. These are frequently manufactured at comparatively low cost close to the markets they are serving at GEA’s workshops in South America, China or India. “Our aim is always to provide a high security of outcome at a lower cost,” he says.
