Leading beverage can producer benefits from Grundfos modern energy efficient pump solutions
Ball Packaging is one of the leading beverage can producers in Europe. They have an impressive client list and produce cans for many major household names. They have been in the UK since 1989 and operate from multiple sites, including their plant in Rugby.
Recently they approached Grundfos Pumps with a view to investigating the replacement of 5 immersible pumps whose role is to supply hot water to machines on their canning production line, as these were reaching ‘end of life’. Grundfos suggested that they undertake a pump energy check which would give them a clear picture on what savings they could achieve.
The energy check report showed that considerable financial and energy savings could be gained through replacing the pumps with modern energy efficient pump solutions. The suggested replacement pumps were from the Grundfos MTRE3 family of multistage, frequency-controlled immersible range. These pumps have a frequency converter integrated with the motor, which making them ultra-efficient.
So impressed were Ball Packaging with the results of the energy check as well as with the short return on investment of just 12 months they decided not only to change the pumps on the original production line but also on their second line as well.
