Aylesbury-based Litre Meter has introduced into the UK a new, fully field portable ultrasonic flowmeter. The instrument incorporates the latest developments in digital signal processing to deliver highly accurate flow measurement for use in remote applications.
The Innova-Sonic flowmeter, manufactured by Sierra Instruments, is a flexible, versatile and totally self-contained instrument. It uniquely incorporates a Bluetooth wireless PDA (personal digital assistant) interface, which makes it possible for readings to be taken and programming to be carried out from up to 30 feet away from the flowmeter.
Capable of measuring to an accuracy of +/- 0.5 per cent, the Innova-Sonic has been principally designed for applications involving clean liquids. However, it is also capable of measuring liquids with small quantities of air bubbles or suspended solids, which are common in most industrial applications.
The flowmeter comes with a choice of either clamp-on or insertion transducers. This means that users do not have to cut pipes or interrupt processes to set-up the instrument.
The Innova-Sonic is light-weight and housed in a die-cast NEMA 4X (IP65) case. It will operate reliably in temperatures ranging from -40C to 150C and accommodate a broad range of pipe sizes, from 25 mm to 5,000 mm.
The instrument has a numeric and graphical display for easy interpretation of data. It can perform a variety of analysis functions including instantaneous flow rate, positive total, negative total, net total, velocity, date and time, and daily flow results.
