MAGNET AND METAL DETECTOR REMOVE ALL METAL PARTICLES

All-Metals-Catcher removes ferrous and non-ferrous particles from foodstuffs
By combining a magnet with a metal detector in a single system, Goudsmit Magnetic Systems of Waalre has recently made it possible to remove both ferrous and non-ferrous particles from flows of materials like foodstuffs. This system, called the All-Metals-Catcher, removes ferrous particles from 25 microns and non-ferrous particles from 0.6mm from powered (bulk) goods, for example in the foodstuffs industry (HACCP). The magnet has a strong magnetic force of 12,000 Gauss and checks raw materials for iron upon the commencement of production, or the end product just before it leaves the production hall.

Thanks to its low overall height, it is possible to incorporate the magnet in an existing production process. This magnetic pre-sorting means that considerably less product is lost than with detection alone. 70% of metal pollution is often caused by iron and can be removed by magnets. The metal detector fitted after the magnet ejects other metals without a great deal of loss of product. The detectors are not susceptible to external influences (such as: moving metal parts, vibration, frequency controls, etc., and are self-monitoring.
METAL DETECTORS
Foodstuffs that have been packaged are always led through a metal detector at the end of the production process. If a metal detector discovers an iron or metal particle of just a few millimetres in size, the entire product and packing is ejected. This costs time and money and can be prevented simply by using a magnet.
It is true that magnets are unable to catch copper or aluminium. However, the iron particles that they are able to collect up are far smaller (from 25 mhu) than the particles metal detectors are able to signal. This therefore prevents tedious product liability issues. If extremely powerful neodymium magnets are used in deferrisation magnets, these magnets can then even catch stainless steel material. That is why the combination of a magnetic separator and a metal detector is very useful in the foodstuffs industry.
