New Bürkert Account Manager for England’s North East
Bürkert Fluid Control Systems has taken on a new Account Manager for North Eastern England, which spans from Nottinghamshire to Northumbria. Robert Van Tonder joins the UK team from Bürkert South Africa and brings 10 years’ experience with the liquid and gas measurement and control company.
Robert will be working with OEMs, distributors and end users across the region, operating across all the industries and applications covered by Bürkert in the north east. The region includes a wide range of sectors, which is well suited to Robert’s varied 17 years’ experience in fluid and gas measurement and control.
Robert began his career in Johannesburg focussing primarily on solenoid valves, progressing to the role of internal sales manager for a leading manufacturer in South Africa and combining his career with studies in sales and marketing management.
After seven years Robert was presented with an opportunity as an external account manager at Bürkert in the coastal Kwazulu Natal Durban region. Progression at Bürkert meant a move back to Johannesburg to manage South Africa’s largest region with the country’s largest accounts.
Robert’s 10 years with Bürkert in South Africa covered a wide range of industries, including food & beverage, pharmaceutical, water, oil and gas as well as mining. The focus was based on end user machinery applications, industrial monitoring and larger fluid control system solutions, of which water management applications played a key role.
Bürkert’s approach is to provide partnership with our customers and work closely with them, building trust and reliability of service. This is what I will be focussing on across the north east region,” says Robert.
“What drives me each day is to achieve the best for our customers. I look forward to working with our partners, which are involved in many of the same sectors I have experience supporting in South Africa.”
Neil Saunders, UK & Republic of Ireland General Manager at Bürkert, adds: “With a breadth and depth of industries requiring fluid and gas measurement and control, England’s north east is a crucial area for Bürkert. Robert already has extensive experience across Bürkert’s portfolio of products and services. He backs this up with an enthusiastic and committed approach, which will be of real value to our customers in the region.”
