New Levels of Performance in Superphosphate Conveying
Guttridge Ltd has supplied Bradley Pulverizer Company, a leading provider of minerals processing plant, with a series of bucket elevators for single superphosphate powder (SSP) plant projects in the Middle East. The new plants incorporate the Bradley Broadfield process, the accepted global standard for SSP manufacture. The Guttridge HiLoad bucket elevators supplied have been engineered for high reliability for the abrasive, dusty process streams with high throughput specifications that reflect the growing scale of processing plants around the world.
“The Guttridge bucket elevators have been a much more reliable and cost-effective option than previous designs we have used and they are now a standard component for our plant,” said Mr Dave Thomas, Managing Director for Bradley Pulverizer.
Bradley Pulverizer supplies plant to the minerals processing industry. Products include the Bradley Broadfield process unit, a fully integrated unit for the production of fertilisers and acidic salts, from phosphate rock and limestone. Bucket elevators are used to convey the product, which is mildly abrasive and contains appreciable quantities of fines. The refined design and proven track record of the Guttridge HiLoad bucket elevator were defining factors in the purchasing decision.
The Guttridge HiLoad bucket elevator range covers throughputs up to 1000 te/hr. The most recent machines supplied for the SSP plant have a throughput of 60 te/hr and a number of features designed to adapt them to the characteristics of the process material. For example, Hardox wear plates on the inlet and outlet chutes of the elevator boost erosion resistance in areas that see continuous material flow.
The buckets themselves are made from 3 mm rather than 2 mm steel to extend lifespan. A coned caged bottom pulley prevents the build-up of process material and safeguards smooth operation despite the dusty nature of the process stream. In combination these features deliver the highest levels of reliability at a competitive price.
