NEW LIFTING EQUIPMENT TRAINING COURSE FROM DEMAG

Listen to this article

Training Courses for all Users of Lifting Equipment

Lifting Equipment specialist, Demag Cranes & Components Ltd, has launched a new training course aimed at all users of lifting equipment, as well as those involved in the repair, maintenance and service of such plant. The course, which is entitled “Safe Use of Lifting Tackle and Operation of Overhead Gantry Cranes”, is designed to improve workplace safety and help employers meet their obligations under workplace legislation, including the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAW), PUWER 1998 and LOLER 1998. Under section 2 of HASAW, employers are required to provide “information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of his employees“, with stiff penalties for non-compliance.

Typically, the competitively priced, one day training course is held at customers’ premises, to help operators gain familiarity with the equipment they are using on a day-to-day basis. Alternatively, where circumstances dictate, the course may be undertaken at Demag’s dedicated training facility, in Banbury. The training regime combines theoretical and practical elements.

Demag states that these programmes are not only suitable for new employees, but also appropriate, as refresher courses, for existing staff. The company advocates that employees should undergo training and instruction at least every three years.
