New Managing Director for Siemens Congleton Plant

Andrew Peters has been appointed Managing Director for the award winning Siemens Motion Control Plant in Congleton North West of England, effective from 1st July 2014. He is replacing Finbarr Dowling, who is to become Project Director for the new wind turbine manufacturing facilities at Green Port Hull and Paull in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Andrew has worked within the electrical and electronic engineering industry for over 25 years which has covered a wide spectrum of roles within manufacturing, research & development, sales, marketing and training. He has also spent time as a strategic consultant to Cap Gemini

For over 10 years Andrew has spent his time in various senior management roles within Siemens most recently leading the Drive Technologies Division for Siemens Industry UK and Ireland. Andrew has significant expertise in managing change, building teams and generating strong organic growth.

The Siemens Motion Control Plant in Congleton began in 1971 as a warehouse and switchboard workshop – the facility now manufacturers in excess of 1.3m motor drives each year which are used in a wide variety of applications, including baggage handling systems, pumps, factory automation, and even roller coasters. The site employs over 500 people, and exports 98% of its products to 78 countries. Earlier this year the site opened its own Junior Factory, a business within a business for apprentices to develop the full range of skills to run British factories of the future.
