New Partnership Enhances Steam Training Portfolio
Spirax Sarco UK, the leading steam system specialist, has joined forces with SUEZ Water Conditioning Services UK Division (formerly B&V Group) to enhance its steam training portfolio for 2015.
The one-day ‘HABC Level 2 Award in Legionella Awareness’ and ‘Boiler Water Treatment’ courses will launch in September 2015. Both courses will be delivered by one of SUEZ Training Academy’s experienced trainers at Spirax Sarco’s UK Steam Technology Centre in Cheltenham.
“We are very pleased to be working with the Water Conditioning Services UK Training Academy on this initiative,” says Sally O’Connell, Training Centre Manager, Spirax Sarco UK. “We know that understanding how to manage the risks of Legionnaires’ disease and implement practical water treatment strategies can help optimise the effectiveness of steam systems. SUEZ’s extensive experience within the water treatment industry therefore complements Spirax Sarco’s own expertise in steam system engineering.”
“We are proud to be working in collaboration with Spirax Sarco to offer these two brand new courses,” says Sarah Pallett, External Training and Marketing Manager, Water Conditioning Services UK. “Spirax Sarco’s proven track-record in delivering quality steam-related training courses at its state of the art UK Steam Technology Centre makes them the perfect fit as a training partner.”
Putting legislation into practice
Employers are increasingly looking for guidance in navigating the industry’s regulatory requirements.
Legionella Awareness aims to reduce the risks associated with legionella by teaching symptoms of the disease, methods of transmission, management techniques and risk assessment practices. Delegates will learn how to apply relevant legislation to their roles, with a particular focus on the Health & Safety Executive’s new version of the Approved Code of Practice (L8) and accompanying technical guidance (HSG 274) documents.
The Boiler Water Treatment course aims to explain why water treatment helps ensure the safe and efficient operation of steam plant. It does so by developing a practical knowledge of water treatment operations, legislative guidelines and chemical dosing requirements; ideal for site technicians, boiler operators and plant and maintenance engineers looking to effectively manage and treat their steam system.
