NOV MONO’S REVOLUTIONARY EZSTRIP REDUCES DOWNTIME FOR BASF

Listen to this article

The world’s leading chemical manufacturer, BASF, has installed four revolutionary EZstripTM maintain-in-place progressing cavity (PC) pumps from NOV® Mono®, Europe’s leading designer and manufacturer of pumps, parts, Munchers®, screens and packaged systems.

In a bid to improve process efficiency and reduce downtime at its site in Bradford, UK, BASF turned to NOV Mono for a solution. “Our existing pumps, which transfer a range of varying viscosity products, were often difficult and time-consuming to maintain,” says a BASF spokesman. “When NOV Mono told us about the maintain-in-place benefits of its innovative EZstripTM PC pump, we just knew it was the solution we had been looking for.

“Thanks to Mono’s EZstripTM, we are able to fully strip down and maintain the PC pump, in situ and within just 30 minutes. This was a massive reduction in time and it has, in turn, resulted in significant cost savings. So far, everything is running perfectly and we couldn’t be happier with this new solution.”

NOV Mono’s patented EZstripTM progressing cavity pump range is the biggest leap forward in progressing cavity pump design for 30 years, and is an extension of Mono’s popular Compact C Range. The EZstripTM has been specifically designed to provide a quick and easy way to disassemble, unblock and maintain a PC pump in-situ, thus significantly reducing the costly maintenance and downtime that servicing can often cause.

The chamber of the EZstripTM pump has a two-piece design which can be opened in less than one minute. The suction chamber and rotating parts can then be unblocked, and the chamber reassembled with a spanner and an allen key. The whole operation can take less than two and a half minutes, depending on the severity of the blockage.

The EZstripTM pump can be installed into new plants or retrofitted into existing NOV Mono Compact C installations. No electrical disconnection is required, and suction and discharge pipes remain untouched. The model range has a capacity of up to 165m3/h, plus 12 bar pressure, and offers either cast iron or stainless steel options. A choice of rotor and stator materials are available, including WRAS-compliant elastomers and a pre-assembled drive train with two year warranty.
