Presentation on how The Connected Enterprise can be realised with the DCS PlantPAx
At this year’s Achema (Frankfurt, June 15-19 2015), the leading show for process industries, Rockwell Automation showcases how its PlantPAx distributed control system (DCS) can help integrate all automation processes in a single plant-wide system for process, power, safety and other non-process control systems. This also enables connectivity to further system integration such as supply chain integration, utilities and customer orders, enabling what we describe as The Connected Enterprise – the realisation of Industry 4.0 principles, which increases productivity, improves efficiency and reduces the total cost of ownership.
With the latest system update, Rockwell Automation has added new virtualisation, batch management and integrated motor control capabilities to its PlantPAx DCS. That simplifies the system’s design, deployment, operation and maintenance. PlantPAx combines a distributed control system with hybrid and discrete applications, safety systems and motor control in a single integrated platform.
Several demo stations on stand E27 in hall 11.1 offer visitors an impression of the practical usage of PlantPAx in plant-wide and multi-plant environment. This includes a fictional control panel that provides real-time data. An effective Connected Enterprise collects data from IoT (Internet of Things) devices connected via EtherNet/IP across the whole plant to deliver performance-critical information. These can be used in real-time for important business decisions.
Furthermore, Rockwell Automation will demonstrate its traceability solutions. Serialisation requires a comprehensive system to track and trace products from manufacturing through the entire supply chain. Visitors can learn how best-in-class companies are using new serialisation solutions to reduce implementation risks using commercial off-the-shelf technology to quickly optimise their return on investment.
The Pavilion8 software platform for industry-specific solutions that are integrated into high-value applications allows manufacturers to quickly adapt to changing business priorities and customer demands without increasing their costs. As a modular software platform, Pavilion8 supports Model Predictive Control, Environmental Management and Production Performance Management.
Rockwell Automation process solutions in action will be shown on various OEMs’ stands at Achema. An overview of these OEMs will be available at the booth. Rockwell Automation staff will be happy to show visitors around the stand and answer any questions they may have.
