PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International) is offering its members the new SPIRTA tool for easy testing of IRT functions, thereby allowing comprehensive testing of PROFINET IO device functions. The tool is available for free download by members at the PI website (www.profibus.com). It can be integrated as a supplementary module in the existing PROFINET tester. As a result, users already familiar with the proven PROFINET tester can quickly learn how to use the IRT module.
In addition, a test module for evaluating the security behavior of PROFINET devices has been made available to members. These tests run various network load scenarios and evaluate the reaction of the test object. This is an important aspect when evaluating the security quality.
The test tools can also be used to test intermediate development results and evaluate reproducible test scenarios. In addition, they can be used for preliminary testing when preparing for certification. These free modules thus support time- and cost-efficient development of PROFINET IO devices.

PI UK was founded as The PROFIBUS Group in 1993 to promote the use of PROFIBUS in the UK.
