PULSAR’S NON-CONTACTING LEVEL MEASUREMENT THE VERSATILE SOLUTION AT FANE VALLEY FEEDS

Listen to this article

Pulsar’s versatile ultrasonic level measurement equipment is in use on both solids and liquids applications at Europe’s most modern animal feed compounding mill, Fane Valley Feeds in Omagh. While the transducer choice varies with the range of the measurement the blackbox® controllers remain constant and interchangeable, making life easier for maintenance and installation staff.

On the grain silos Pulsar have installed dB25 transducers using ‘aiming kits’ to measure to the bottom of the silo. Signals from the blackbox® controller interface with the site PLC, giving staff an immediate, visual indication of silo contents and also important re-ordering data. Liquid raw materials including palm oil and molasses are measured. Local displays help vehicle drivers to avoid overfilling, and diesel tanks are measured to monitor usage of this important resource around the site.

The blackbox® range has been designed to be a component of a wider control system, providing analogue or digital signals and optionally a simple local display. Other Pulsar products include IMP, a self-contained two or three wire unit with a maximum 10m measuring range, and Ultra, which provides a wide range of control functions and, like blackbox, can measure in a range from 150mm to 40 metres and also provide high-accuracy open channel flow monitoring for effluent.
