Using the linear variable differential transformer LVDT principle means that it is probably the most robust and reliable position sensor type available. Suitable for use on underwater control valves or vehicles and for measuring movement on structures, the SSD range is constructed from a special grade of stainless steel and fully welded to encounter pressure experienced at depths of up to 2,300 m. Calibrated outputs of ±5 v or 0 -10 v are available as standard with the option of 4 – 20 mA 2 wire transmission providing accurate data even over long cable runs.
