Farmers Weekly looked at red diesel rules this week, something that they believe many farmers are not 100 per cent conversant with.
There are some grey areas, knowledge of which can keep you out of the reach of the law. Red diesel can only be used legally on the road by vehicles exempted, and to qualify these vehicles must be engaged in an agricultural, horticultural or forestry-related activity and these include: tractors, light agricultural vehicles, materials handlers, agricultural engines, snow clearers and mobile cranes and diggers.
